Pledging Ceremony of the Outreach Team for the Elderly

The "Pledging Ceremony of the Outreach Team for the Elderly cum Volunteer Training and first home visit" was held on Saturday, 7 January 2017. Totally 39 Outreach Ambassadors in groups of doctors and their families, medical students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong, secondary school students, and elders and residents living in Chai Wan visited 44 singleton elders and elderly couples in Hing Wah Estates I & II. Prior to the visit, Ms. FUNG Chuen Ping who is a senior social worker shared her voluntary experiences and briefed the Outreach Ambassadors on the basic techniques and issues to pay attention during home visit. Fourteen groups of Outreach Ambassadors greeted the elderly with gift bags which included scarves, soy milk, food and monthly calendars during home visits, making the elderly feel cared and loved in the festive Chinese New Year! The ambassadors also helped to conduct health and home safety assessments for the elderly.
