The first "Nursing" course of the "Health Academy for the Elderly" in the second academic term was started on 23 November 2017. Dr. HO Wai Lam, Diana, Clinical Associate of the Speech Therapy Unit of the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, was invited again to be the speaker of "Swallowing Difficulty". The talk covered symptoms, influences and consequences of swallowing difficulty. Dr. Diana HO also reminded carers to take note on selection of foods, drink and utensils, and practical advices were given to students too. In addition, elders were invited to taste the "Thickened Drinks" prepared by Dr. HO and her students so that they could feel the various texture and understand how the thickener reduced the risk of choking.
