The Association, for the purpose of registration, is declared to consist of 1,000 members but the Council of the Association may from time to time register an increase of members.
The Association is established for the purposes expressed in the Memorandum of Association.
Members of the Association may be of any nationality and shall be of the following kinds:-
| a. | Regular Members:- | |
| i. |
Any person who has been registered under section 14 of the Medical Registration Ordinance Cap. 161 and |
|
| ii. |
Any person who has been a Fraternity Member of the Association for no less than one year and who has ordinarily resided and lawfully practiced medicine continuously in Hong Kong for no less than 21 years immediately before applying for Regular Membership |
|
| shall be eligible to become a Regular Member of the Association. | ||
| b. | Life Members:- | |
| i. |
Any person who is eligible to become a Regular Member of the Association shall be eligible to become a Life Member of the Association. |
|
| ii. |
Any person who has become a Regular Member and has been paying the subscription for Regular Membership continuously for not less than 40 years shall be eligible to become a Life Member of the Association without payment of the prescribed fee. |

|
All students of the Medical Faculties of The University of Hong Kong or The Chinese University of Hong Kong are eligible to apply for temporary membership of The Hong Kong Medical Association. |
